AdSense drop due to suspended hosting account
It’s been one of those days today!
One of the twins has a fever so I didn’t sleep all night, when I did eventually drop off, it was 8am! Nearly 24 hours of being awake!
Anyway, I managed to catch a few hours sleep and when I did eventually wake up at 12.30pm, I was shocked to see one of my other hosting accounts was suspended. This was NOT good. A have a fair few UK based sites on here so half the day’s traffic had already gone.
I did manage to get my account resintated, the reason was an unpaid invoice, the problem was that the emails had gone into my junk folder so probably why it was missed!
On top of that, the day before yesterday’s AdSense earnings were probably the best Ive had for a while, in fact a few weeks. The main earner was one of my personal hobby sites which does bring in some steady traffic but the CPC is incredibly low! What happened yesterday was that I had only a few clicks but the CPC seemed to have gone through the roof, this site alone made me just over £4 which was fantastic.
2 1/5 Months On
BEWARE: Very Very long post ahead!
So its Septemeber the 1st. A start of a new month and plenty of work ahead to achieve my personal goal.
I haven’t posted here for over 2.5 months and I do apologise for that but since the Mayday Algo update, its completely thrown me off my strategy, plans and goals.
That dreaded day of June the 3rd was like a bombshell to thousands of IMers (me included) and since then I’ve had to pick myself and literally try a different approach.
Just to recap, pretty much all my XFactor type niche sites spiralled into oblvion, dropping to stupidly low rankings such as 500+. To check my rankings I use SEO Elite by Brad Callen and although I’m sure theres better tools on the market, it serves its purpose.
So heres an overview of what I’ve done over the last 2.5 months to try and claw my rankings back;
The worst birthday ever and all because of Google’s Mayday Update
Today is my 32nd Birthday. I was hoping that after possibly the worst 24 months of my life dealing with family issues which are still ongoing that there would be something positive to look forward to. Google however have done nothing but to stress me out even more with the Mayday update. Its now almost 5 days since I saw my rankings completely nosedive on my Micro Niche Sites and there doesn’t seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel. Now I’m a very positive person and it takes a lot to get me down but this whole thing has bowled me middle stump.
There was a slight glimmer of hope though. I’m beginning to see a slight increase in earnings from some of my older sites. These are sites that I developed prior to getting into the Micro Niche and the John XFactor methodology arena; what is strange though as that the domains are also exact match domains. I can’t help thinking that age DOES have something to do with this.
How will I rise above Googles Mayday Update?
So a lot of people’s AdSense earnings have been hit really hard by the Mayday update from Google, (me included). I’ve spent the last few days just in a complete and utter daze, not knowing what to do or how to attack this huge problem. Its not often I walk around my kitchen scratching my head with a worried look on my face.
So I thought to myself in the middle of the night as I was adjusting the fan in this London heat….’Just carry on doing what you did before, you’ve got nothing to lose now’.
Mayday Mayday Mayday ….a huge drop in rankings, earnings and traffic.
As some of you may be aware, Google continuously makes changes to its algorithm, about 400-500 a year in fact. Most of these have little impact on us internet marketers.
There are always some huge updates, recently Caffeine was a major way in which Google indexed and ranksed sites.
Now on June the 5th, something bad happened, I mean something terrible, I noticed that one by one, the majority of my sites that had been holding page 1 positions started to drop of the SERPS like flies. Sites that were earning me a decent income had completely disappeared. At the time of writing this, pretty much 99% of my XFactor sites have vanished from the top 10 and gone into oblivion.
Google AdSense Revenue share revealed
The day that most of us AdSense publishers have been waiting for was finally here.
Google have announced how much their revenue sharing is for publishers.
AdSense for content publishers earn – 68%
AdSense for Search partners earn 51%.
Wow, to be honest I didn’t realise it would be that high. In fact I thought it wouldv’e been a lot lower, somewhere in the 30-40% range but thats fantastic for me and the thousands of publishers worldwide.
Onwards and upwards.

The Best and Worst Way to Work With AdSense
The Google AdSense programme has been a wonderful way for people to make money online. Even those that have been in the internet marketing game do not find making money online easy as this is just like any other job. The only difference is that you can choose when you want to work and how much work you want to do. With any job there is always a best and a worst way to do it, below is an overview.
One of the best ways to be really successful at AdSense is to be organised, you’ll be surprised how confusing it can get once you have several domains live and are unsure what you need to do next.
Carrying out the correct keyword research is absolutely pivotal in deciding which keywords will drive you traffic and rankings. Obviously the higher your rankings, the better chance you have of earning money. This business is not something you will see results from overnight so hard work, effort and patience are traits that are an absolute must. By carrying out thorough keyword research, you are effectively building a good solid foundation to your online business.
Because you will generating most of your traffic from organic search results, you must make it your job to understand search engine optimisation as much as you can. The more you know, the more you will understand how to drive the right type of traffic. If you understand SEO then you are well on your way to making it with AdSense. You will need at least an intermediate level as basic SEO will not ‘cut the mustard’.
Finding free backlinks
Here’s a tip for everyone who is looking for free backlinks to their sites. If you are someone who pays for or outspurces for backlinks, why not try the method below?
Its a great way to find sites that use WordPress. Just type the following into Google and simply replace the .edu domain suffix with anything like .com or .co.uk, the possibilities are endless. Also just replace the “your keywords” with the key phrases that you are targeting.
Small Micro Niche Sites or 1 big authority site?
Ok so we see this question asked over and over again for niche site developers. Is it better to develop mini sites or to develop 1 main authority site? The really simple answer to this is ‘BOTH’. Why? Read on.
Google Pagerank update April 2010
Ok, so Google seems to have updates its PageRank. I’m pretty happy as it seems a lot of my hard work over the last few months has paid off. ok so I didn’t get a huge amount of PR for my sites but to jump from 0 to 1,2 was good. At least I know that next time I can aim for PR2 or 3. I did have a 10 year old domain that was sitting on PR3 now jump up to PR4 which I was very happy about. I basically made a great deal of links nofollow which I think attributed to lots of pagerank leaks.
