If you’re in the AdSense publishing business and have been developing your sites from a cave, you’ll have heard of John XFactor. A few days ago I received an email from him letting me know that his ‘NEW’ course was available for download.
Becuase this is a completely new course, John has written this from scratch. The purpose of this eBook is to focus on building bigger more authority sites while managing as little domain names as possible.
John has had a bit of a tough time being called all sorts but I’ve always admired the way he has helped others. In fact he inspired me to develop my AdSense sites (and I’ve been on the AdSense scene for a looooong time pretty much on and off). It took 18 months of waiting but I was sure as hell going to buy it!
There are a few pricing systems for this, if you are not on his existing system then you have to pay the discounted price of $77 from $97. If you are a member of his previous course whose name is on the system then you get this for a bargain of $39.99.
All orders are approved manually so it could take a few hours before you get the URL. Fortunately enough, I got in there early and it only took 2 hours. I recevied it at 11pm.
So? What can I expect from the course?
Well the first thing you can’t help noticing is the 217 pages of this PDF. WOW . It took me over 4.5 hours to read the whole document and by the time I’d finished, it was 3.30am.
There are 10 chapters which cover everything from John’s background all the way up to his linkbuilding strategy and thoughts.
I found the whole book was written in his typical easy to understand style and the fact that he was telling you about his mistakes and hurdles that he has experienced is worth it’s weight in gold.
There are a few chapters which I personally found to help me a great deal;
Chapter 2: Keyword Research – How to Create a Complete Keyword Blueprint
Now I’m pretty good when it comes to keyword research and have had good success with picking and ranking terms but this method is not just food for thought, but something to implement when building authority sites. Forget numbers, exact matches etc from any keyword tool and just focus on keywords that are well themed and suited for humans. The chapter teaches you how to carry out keyword research and make this into correct categories using some free and paid tools.
Chapter 3: Content Creation (Part 1) The Magic of Theme Article Writing
Probably the chapter that I felt gave me the most value. The course gives you tips on how to ensure you have the BEST keywords for your articles. Forget all the usual mumbo jumbo about keyword density and just write as naturally as possible. Most of us already know this but John explains the whole LSI, themeatic approach very clearly with a step by step guide.
Chapter 4: Content Creation (Part 2) Article Templates My Writers Use
This part of the course contains examples of actual templates that John uses to develop content. This is an absolute Godsend I feel as I’ve always had issues with writing teams. Although my article briefs are quite tight, its always good to see how the big boys are doing it…..a great insight.
Theres all the usual mentoring from John telling you what he did and what you should avoid etc. The surprise chapter for me was the part on backlinking…..I’m not going to reveal much (as its not fair to disclose everything) but its always good to see other methods than article marketing which we know works…..this is a very interesting chapter! All the usual suspects are mentioned, article spinning, forum profiles, social bookmarking….!
The whole course seems to go in the direction of ‘relevancy‘ and ‘well themed content‘ which seems to be the direction search engines have been headed towards for a long time. It is for this reason that big authority sites must take a slightly different approach to Micro Niches, or so claims John.
There are a few new tools that are introduced, out goes Micro Niche Finder and in comes several keyword tools such as Wordtracker, Market Samurai and TreePad (Free but soo bloody useful). The tool I’m waiting to get my hands on is Web Content Studio which sounds quite juicy although the price is a bit of a sticking point for me yet!
What I’ve also deduced from this course is that one should take a step back from everything you are doing and actually look at everything you do from a ‘common sense’ approach. I’ll admit I used to once upon a time but once you get into a routine you kind of forget about that. I’ve now realised that web design, content writing and usability methods I was using back in 1998 still stand today and will always be king. Its just very easy to get sucked into what all the SEO Gurus seem to tell us is right.
For those of you that have bought the course, what are your thoughts?
