I think I have learn many mistakes as well as many positive things in the last 18 months.  Its now time to ‘notch’ up a gear and really make things happen. Just an overview on the areas I will be concentrating on;

Authority Site Building – 800lb Gorillas

I’ve been working on an authority site for the last few weeks on a project that Ive had since Decemeber 2008.  My aim is to build this up to become a powerful site that can make money on its own. Initially the target is a very modest £3-5 per day and then onto double figures within a matter of months.  It can average anywhere from between a few pennies to several ££££s per day but it is inconsistent.   I will be making a separate post on this project shortly.

Thin Sites – Casting out the net to catch the fishes

I have a shedload of domain names that I purchased prior to my XFactor niche site building endeavours.  In addition to  big authority sites, I want to still test the waters and see if the domains are worthwhile developing.  Some of my time will be dedicated to creating 1 page sites with about 1,500+ words.

Article Writing

I’ve realised that I will be doing less outsourcing on article writing and developing content myself.  This gives me more control and I can tweak it, change it as much as I want. No matter how much I ask article writers to do write specific content, its never good enough so its best to do it myself.

The number of words of articles that I will write will be doubled from 500 to 1,000+.  Why? Something that John XFactor said stuck in my head.  One shouldnt always aim for the top spots but aim to rank for many long-tail keywords.  This is something that seems quite obvious, but with a little bit more emphasis on writing more QUALITY valuable content I think this can be achieved.

Also, I will be going back to Google’s ethos of writing good quality content that readers want is what I am going to do!  It will be written so that it contains lots of LSI, relevant terms and also its exciting for the reader.

I will write with the following mentality;

Is this good enough for the reader to show others?

Backlinking

Forum profiles work! I don’t like them but I’ve recently conducted an experiment on one of my sites from a freelancer on oDesk.  After Mayday my site that was in the top 10 plummeted to oblivion. After months of hard work it was sitting on the second page of Google.  The 3 things that I did in the last few months we re UAW runs, SEOPressor and forum profile links.  Its now sitting comfortably at the peak outranking Amazon and authority sites in its sector. The oDesik freelancer was employed only a few weeks ago and I’ve seen a massive jump on many projects.

Design

Before IM, I came from a web design background.  PhotoShop, DreamWeaver, writing HTML etc.  Reading too much on SEO and organic traffic has made me lose my way somewhat and have come to the realisation that you need to design for humans and ensuring that the sites look appealing and have great content….pure old skool!

Social Media Optimisation

I knew it was big but didn’t realise just HOW big.  I’ve recently started to use Twitter quite a lot and am realising the power of retweeting tweets.  WOW!  This is the NEW way of going viral!  You can subscribe to my tweets by clicking on the twitter icon in the menu screen!

Updating this Site

I realise I haven’t been updating this site as much as I’d like to but I’m sure you can appreciate with my personal life being so hectic and projects on the go it can be quite difficult.  HOWEVER, I will try as much as possible to post as much info as I can so you can avoid any mistakes that I make and can learn from my successes as well.

Oh and a quick thank you to the usual suspects and new people that are leaving their feedback and contacting me.  Its very much appreciated!
