So finally after waiting since April 2010, Google decided to update it’s toolbar with a ‘fresher’ version of PageRank. What a coincidence on the day the Larry Page becomes the new CEO of Google. From looking at my personal sites, it seems as though sites that were gaining more ‘natural’ looking links tended to do well. A lot of my sites either stayed the same or dropped. I had a few surprises with some going up to PR1.
My theory is, on-page content and natural links seem to have the most benefit with links on side bars not really helping my sites. Again these are only my observations.
With regards to backlinks, its still too early to tell as in the UK things happen a day or so late.
On another note, I finished my article earlier today and thought I’d quickly tidy up another article from another site until I found out abotu the update. Oh well, time to move on and keep working.
I hope you guys had some good success with your PR.
