Ok so we see this question asked over and over again for niche site developers. Is it better to develop mini sites or to develop 1 main authority site?  The really simple answer to this is ‘BOTH’.  Why?  Read on.

Is it better to make £100 per day with 1 site or is it better to make £10 per day with 10 sites?  In my opinion, I think that if you are new to the IM game then one should look to go for the latter.  By developing lots of various Micro Niches, what you are in fact doing is spreading your risk in case anything goes wrong.  Also, smaller micro niche sites are a great deal easier to get ranked if they are specifically focussed on a specific niche.  For example, if our site is looking at the ‘dog training bowls’ niche then we would look to purchase a domain with the exact keyword phrase and choose keywords around the domain name.  The downside to owning all these micro niche sites is firstly time and the second is cost.  Time becuase it is an incredible amount of work trying to manage so many sites.  I know this from experience, when you have soo many sites to research keywords on, then develop content, backlinks then it can be just overwhelming.  Oh and did I mention that a lot of this is outsourced which still leaves me working 25 hours per day.

The cost can get quite expensive.  Now just image if you have a hundred domains that need to be renewed?  If you don’t start making money on them quickly then this is going to start eating into your profit.

The other day I was reading a post on the Warrior Forum about how many sites John (XFactor) has.  A guy was saying how he intends to build 1,000 niche sites in the aim of earning only $3 per day.  I was quite suprised to read that John only has 127 sites. WOW!  What I was intrgiued to read was that his 5 page sites are now growing into 50+ page sites which he intends to build into authorities.  Good on you.

Anyway, it was that thread that sparked the debate.  In a nutshell, what I would personally do is start to develop small micro niche sites and then build them up over time.  Bigger authority sites tend to hold pagerank better (in my experience) and you will also have the power of your site to pass onto new pages.
